Hello! You may be wondering what the blog title means.
El Hierro was once known as the westernmost point in the world, before the discovery and acceptance of the existence of the Americas. Today, it is still known by its nickname, the Meridian Island. On some maps, there are little sea monsters drawn in, and Europeans once knew it as the last place before the sea poured off the edge of the world.
The other inspiration for my blog title was this little fellow. This is the Giant Lizard of El Hierro, or Gallotia simonyi, an endangered species that the island is actively working on rehabilitating. Not only was this island once the end of the world, surrounded by perilous dragon-infested waters, but it is also the home of little dragons!
¡Hasta la próxima!
